Pliés From Uganda

Last year, as I was saying good bye to the students and teachers of Deirdre Ann Academy, many asked if I was coming back.  I, of course answered, “Yes”.  But then one student, Rosemary, said, “When?”   I very casually replied, “Next year.” She looked me square in the eyes, and with tears in HER eyes said, “Promise?   You promise!”     What was I to say?    Of course I promised-- how could I not?  That exchange stayed with me very deeply through out the year, inspired a lot of work on behalf of Deirdre Ann Academy  and my return a year later.
